Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Theme: What specific teehms did the author emphasize throughout the novel? What do you think he or she is trying to get across to the readers? I think the specific theme in this book was the importance of friendship. The author is trying to say that you should not try to change the way your friends act. He shows this by the main character Greg and his best friend Rowley (Who is a bit immature in Gregs eyes.) getting into a fight. Later on in the story Greg decides to accept Rowley for who he is, and helps him in a very tough situation where teenagers were making rowley eat an old moldy piece of cheese. After this happened they became friends again. Diary of a Wimpy kid is a great book series, It sure is one of my favorites. I really think others should read it.Diary of a Wimpy Kid Dog Days, Plot: What about the plot? Did it pull you in; or did you feel you had to force yourself to read the book? This book had a wonderful plot that really relates to the average middle school aged kid during summer. This humorus book really hooked me from the first page. With likeable characters and funny situations, I couldn't stop reading it! For example when The main Character Greg goes to the community pool they make him go to the locker room and take a shower before he goes into the pool. But these arent showers with a door, they are open showers and the grown men who are always at the showers make him talk to them. After seeing them in the open showers almost every day he is terrified and can never look the those men the same way ever again. I think anybody would be with Greg on this one and would never want to got to a pool ever again. The humorus interactions of the characters reminded me of my own family and friends. I would reccomend this book to anybody that had a great sence of humor, and don't worry if you havent read the whole series, because it gives an explination just about everything that has happend in the past books.
